Welcome to Teddington Youth Rugby

We aim to provide rugby for children from U6s to U18s, both boys and girls, in a friendly, successful environment.  From the very youngest learning to pick up a ball and run with it to County and even England Elite Squad members, we cater for players of all abilities and interest in the game of rugby.  The Youth section of the club operates from two locations. Teddington Mini Rugby (U6 –U12) runs from Imber Court in East Molesey, whilst the Juniors, U13 to U18/Colts and U15, U18 Junior Girls operate from both Imber Court and Bushy Park.

Mini Rugby

Welcome to Teddington Minis. If you would like to join us for the new season please see the Join us section for details of places available and what to do to register with the Club.

Teddington Minis is one of the most successful minis sections in the country. We have a commitment to good fun and good rugby provided in a friendly, family orientated environment. Our ethos at all levels is to train for fun and play matches and festivals to win. The hallmark of the club is its inclusiveness and its warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere coupled to on field success.youth

Mini rugby is a specially designed approach to rugby that introduces boys and girls to the key aspects of the game in a structured and safe manner. Children play in groups from U6 to U12, attaining new skills and gaining a wider appreciation of the game as they progress from age group to age group. Just as important, children learn about the camaraderie and the philosophy of rugby, making new friends from a wide range of schools and backgrounds.

To deliver training in an effective and child centred manner, we have over 100 RFU qualified coaches. They are committed, enthusiastic and have a well-developed understanding of the needs of children and how is best to communicate to them. Our coach to child ratio is one of the best in the country with 1 coach per 5.5 children.

youthTraining takes place on Sunday mornings at Imber Court, starting at 10:00am, usually with skill development activities followed by matches. Each session finishes at approximately 12:00pm. There are a large number of home and away fixtures against some of the best mini clubs in the country and we participate in several festivals, particularly in the second half of the season. The facilities at Imber Court are excellent with sustenance available throughout the training period. At the end of each session more serious refreshment and meals are provided in the Club House. As a member of Teddington RFU you benefit from our affiliation with NEC Harlequins and the Senior Club, in particular gaining access to discounted match day tickets at the Stoop and the International tickets.

As a minis club, our objective is to provide children with a positive experience of rugby and all that it entails. The engagement of his or her family in the club is an important part of achieving this goal. If you'd like to find out more, please contact us, or visit the Senior or Ladies pages. Alternatively, turn up at Imber Court on a Sunday morning when we're at home and see for yourself.

Junior Rugby

Welcome to Teddington Junior Rugby. If you would like to join us for the new season please see the Join us section for details of places available and what to do to register with the Club.

Teddington Junior rugby is a successful extension of the Minis and a vital bridge to the Senior ladies and Mens teams. The Junior Boys sides compete in Division 1 of the Middlesex and Hertfordshire Leagues and we operate 2 sides per age group at U13 and U14. County selection and Elite player development is encouraged and the section benefits from professional coaching from former England and Wales U18, U19 and U21 players. Full time physiotherapy and personal conditioning support is available to all players.

A Junior Girls section was established in 2002 to cater for the demand for women’s rugby and to provide a feeder pool to the successful Ladies section within the club. There are now multiple County and South East divisional players within the U15 and U18 groups.

These achievements reflect the ambition of the Club to play good rugby and to be successful on the field. But the soul of rugby is the camaraderie and social development that playing the game can bring and this aspect is at the forefront of the Junior section. Our ambition is for Teddington Junior Rugby to be a place that children who are undergoing tremendous physical and social development look forward coming to and is something they are proud to be a part of.

The Junior boys train and play at Imber Court and Bushy Park based on pitch availability. Directions are available at ‘Maps’. U13-U15 training takes place on Wednesday evening and Sunday mornings whilst the U16-Colts train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. Contact the relevant Lead Coach for details.
